Thanks. Do you happen to know exactly what chapter/page of LFS that this
symlink is created? Thanks.

        I got the following for gclibc, any ideas?

          make[1]: Leaving directory
            `/mnt/lfs/sources/Chapter-5/5.7._Glibc-2.16.0/glibc-2.16.0'

/mnt/lfs/tools/bin/../lib/gcc/i686-lfs-linux-gnu/4.7.1/../../../../i686-lfs-linux-gnu/bin/ld:
            cannot find crt1.o: No such file or directory

/mnt/lfs/tools/bin/../lib/gcc/i686-lfs-linux-gnu/4.7.1/../../../../i686-lfs-linux-gnu/bin/ld:
            cannot find crti.o: No such file or directory

          collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status

    Every time that I have run into this it was because I messed up the
    symlink in the root directory pointing to /mnt/lfs/tools

    Should be as follows

    ls -l /

    lrwxrwxrwx    1 root root    14 Sep 10 11:19 tools ->
    /mnt/lfs/tools

    You might have

    lrwxrwxrwx    1 root root    14 Sep 10 11:19 /tools
