I started a new LFS 7.1 installation and this time I used Kubuntu 12.04 32Bit as host system.
All packages from Chapter 6 compiled without any problems then. I'm not sure, what the problem was, maybe I had a typo in the configure command for perl. Thanks for the fast help.
