Hi, - although this probably is not an LFS specific problem - here goes

"grub-mkdevicemap --device-map=device.map"
returns an empty file --/boot/grub/device.map-- (w/o any error/warning message)

This seems to be a problem with my hard disk, because

a) my GPARTED LiveCD works ok

b) after reinstalling Ubuntu, my Shiny New Selfmade LFS-6.8 shows up in the GRUB menu and is booted all righty

c) cfdisk returns

"FATALER FEHLER: Beschädigte logische Partition 8: vergrößerte logische Partit"

d) fdisk -l returns

   Platte /dev/sda: 500.1 GByte, 500107862016 Byte

/dev/sda9 31613 31872 2085888 82 Linux Swap / Solaris

    Partitionstabelleneinträge sind nicht in Platten-Reihenfolge

Will appreciate each and any hint on how to straighten this out
