I have no idea if I need it or not. When I first started builing LFS It took me 
about 30 tries compiling the kernel, eventually I hit upon the correct 
combination of the couple of thousand config options that worked, one of which 
was the BLK_DEV_UB option. There's probably a dozen more options in the config 
file I don't need. 

Nice idea though. I think I will disable the BLK_DEV_UB option and see what 
happens.
