Ok, start from here. There's no way you should have ended up with a
directory called "linux-headers-2.6.32-24-generic" by following
directions in the book - there's no source package of that name, nor any
package containing a directory of that name. So, where did it come from?
The name sounds like some kind of distro-specific package...
