If one is brave and patient, it can be very much fun to get to the grub2 command line and experiment. "set pager=1" turns the pager on so that if you try to get help, you can actually read it. "set pager=0" turns it off again. The help is not very helpful. There is something of a find command (exact usage is forgotten), but i believe that such a command as follows, should print "(hd0,6)": search -f /boot/lfskernel-2.6.34 If it does that, and if that partition is ext4, then it must be able to read it.
