If you are NOT using this partition for any other work, go ahead and
make it your LFS partition.
Although you wont be needing 50GB of space for lfs... its just  waste
of space, its advisable to make a smaller partition of 2-3GB as
mentioned in section 2.2 of book.

two things...
1. if a partition is already mounted you cant mount it again unless it
is first unmounted.
2. you can mount a partition anywhere on host filesystem (are there
any exceptions??). So go
    ahead and mount your partition on /mnt/lfs or any other mount
point and enjoy the ride!!
