I was having trouble getting cut and paste to work. I started over from the beginning using the LFS that came with my LFS Live CD and I have gotten all the way to 5.18.1. I stopped for a while to look at new computers, but I will go back.
Thanks for the help, LFS is much easier once you start up an X Session from the Live CD to copy and paste from the LFS manual into your terminal.
