Thanks, I'm glad it helps others too. I often was very disappointed when I found a thread discussing exactly my problem and then ending without a solution or just the words "Got it working". Well I didn't tell the Blender developers because they don't supprot make anymore. Using scons for building works flawlessly and does a better configuration. I didn't want to install scons because I feared a lot of build dependencies. But for yafray I didn't get around it and noticed scons is a very small package and doesn't need any special packages. So I recompiled blender with scons and even got the game-(physics-)engine working. Just the way ffmpeg gets compiled causes a crash. So I do it with my system ffmpeg;) I'd recommend to get scons. You'll want to have yafray anyway;) If someone knows of a free ray-tracer for linux that can do volumetric caustics in mist/fog, please let me know!
