FWIW, I find installing PCI-Utils (http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/view/svn/general/pciutils.html) as early on as possible after finishing your LFS build (or even earlier if you are comfortable) is very helpful. It can show you what devices are on your mobo and not just cards on the physical PCI bus...
