Ah! Thanks for that. I didn't know that. So teeny paches are cumulative, unlike the incremental minor patches. > I almost replied to Randy's reply - I hate downloading 40MB >tarballs unnecessarily, but going from vanilla 2.6.11 to 2.6.17 is >going to be about 29MB of patches, so a tarball might be worthwhile. My quick addition for the 12-17 patches I downloaded was 38.5MB. But with your clue the obvious thing was to download the 23K 11.12 teeny patch and use what I already had. I reversed the 11.12 teeny, went forward to 17 (for now) without a single reject. >(but go for 2.6.17 plus the patch 2.6.17.6, to make it easier to go >forward next time). Over the years I've learned a rule: "Never use version .0 of ANYTHING!" I stopped with 2.6.17 just to test. I expect the teeny's fix some late glitches. But I want to add some extra packages first. > What you will probably find is that you need to upgrade udev and >any custom rules files (syntax is now a lot tighter, == instead of You don't remember? ;-) (Well, they say when you get old, the memory is the second thing to go.
