Probably a typo, but just in case, you do mean /etc/resolv.conf correct?

Can you ping the assigned inteface address? How about your ISP's DG? Also, did you disable the ipv4 script? Set ONBOOT="no" in /etc/sysconfig/network-devices/ifconfig.eth0/ipv4.
