Will this version compile with the same instructions and patches that's
in the current SVN book?
I have tried a couple of times and got stuck, I suspect because some of the patches did not apply cleanly:
gcc-4.02 patch: not applied, I'm still using 3.x.x
nptl patch: this one applied cleanly if I remember correctly
jdk-1.5.0_05: did not apply cleanly, perhaps because I have already upgraded to 1.5.0_06. In particular, there are several instances in which 'enum' is inappropriately used as an enumerator even though it is now a reserved keyword
no_pam patch: not applied becaause I have pam installed
xmlsec_no_mozilla-2 patch: I think this one applied cleanly
If I remember correctly, compiling OOo-2.0.0rc3 took about 16 hours, so
it would be nice to know if it's a waste of time ;)
I used to compile options in svn but had to specify some paths explicitly, e.g. apache-ant. OOo-2.0.1 compiled for about two hours and stopped on project xmerge
Are there any plans to upgrade the SVN book to include this version? It
supposedly contains a few bugfixes, so it sounds like a good idea to me..
I would also very much appreciate that.
