That's interesting... I have exactly the same problem. Can't help you
fix it though, since I've not yet gotten around to trying to investigate
the cause. As a note, there's a program in /usr/sbin/evolution/2.4
called evolution-addressbook-export which can extract contact info from
evolution-data-server.

However, I wonder if you might have also have another problem that's
been bothering me, dealing with tasks and appointments. If I try adding
an appointment or task, the Evolution shell freezes. Does that happen to
you as well? If so, they might be related problems.

This second bug is logged on bugzilla, if you want to take a look at it.
No useful feedback from the developers yet, alas - I think I'll update
the entry, see if I can get some attention.
