[Note: forwarded message attached: The previous mail] Hi list, I am running the HTML version of the LFS book. I assume this is up to date.
The Glibc2.3.4 refuses to compile on the host too. The Host is a i686 800Mhz running fedora Core 2, with all the devellopement tools installed. SO nothing should be missing on the host... The output of the configure script is attached as log. The typo is doubtful since the command was pasted to the command line from the HTML. I have two screens I doubt that the command altered when mousing over from the Book to the other screen containing the terminal... So typos are out of the question and since I get the same error when trying to build on the host without the gcc3.3.4 on the LFS system I'm not sure what is wrong. Here is the command issued lfs:~/lfs/source/glibc-build$ ../glibc-2.3.4/configure --prefix=/tools --disable-profile --enable-add-ons --enable-kernel=2.6.0 --with-binutils=/tools/bin --without-gd --with-headers=/tools/include --without-selinux > log The current working directory was /home/lfs/lfs/sources/glibc-build the source for glibc-2.3.4 is /home/lfs/lfs/sources/glibc-2.3.4 as it would be from the tarball. The LFS system is mounted on /home/lfs/lfs/mnt/ and the tools symlink points to /home/lfs/lfs/mnt/tools/ Does everything seem ok from that description or have I got something wrong? I am reasonable new to linux but am learning quickly and hoped that building a linux system from scratch would teach me what was going on from the boot to prompt. I haven't got a clue as to what is wrong I have followed the HTML version pretty much to the letter substituting only the directory which the second disk was mounted. Everything up till now has built fine and w/o the glibc I'm stuck. Pls help! I can't continue without the c library so I really could do with some help . I am running Fedora Core 2 as a host and downloaded all of the packages per directions on the lFs book.Well, fedora often gives grief when trying to build LFS's of a similar vintage, so possibly that is the root of the problem (they're more bleeding-edge than we are). Unfortunately, a 486sx host is going to be limited in which host distros it can run.I am trying to build a nat router/firewall for my adsl connection and LFS seemed the perfect way to prune linux down to size for a small 486 sx with two lan cards. Would really like to get beyond this error, so I can get to configuring the router. Attached is a file containing the output of the script 'log' it is plain ascii so everyone should be able to read it. All the best and thx in advance CharlesThe only thing that came to light in google was a post on linuxquestions that ultimately resolved to "I made a typo in the instructions". No word on what the typo was, but you might want to cast a jaundiced eye over your command.Ken -- das eine Mal als Trag?die, das andere Mal als Farce-- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/lfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
