 Heh, if I get a working lib|lib32, I'll try LD_LIBRARY_PATH.  But a
long way to go before that :-(

 Thanks, second run was pretty good (apart from the hang in glibc tests)
but the new imprecations I tried for X didn't take the place of the old
imprecations I'd removed.  Still trying to tidy my notes and make sure
my use of patches is consistent before I try a third run.
