That is correct. For some of the commands that pertain to x86_64 in the book, you'll need for powercp64 (such as the case statements for example). And of course the interpreter is ld.so.1 or the like. I mostly build for ppc with the powerbook G4 (My imac G5 powersupply went out so I haven't built for ppc64) with CLFS. I haven't done an LFS build for ppc in a while.
