Sure.  By the way, I just completed Chapter 5 with no issues.

gawk 3.1.8 (the version that caused the issue) is the latest version
available in the default sources.list.  raring has 4.0.1.  Users can either
add raring to the sources.list or simply download just the gawk .deb file
from http://packages.ubuntu.com/raring/amd64/gawk/download  using wget and
use dpkg -i .  The package's dependencies are satisfied by what is already
on 12.04 LTS.   I did the latter approach, as I'm trying to keep things as
stock as possible.

Will be continuing on today, will let you know if I hit any other
roadblocks (but I don't anticipate any).
