I agree that almost any use-able Linux system will have bc, but I'm not sure it belongs in LFS any more than, say, which or even Python (which also are on most use-able Linux systems) If it benefits any of the tests then there is a reason, but while I don't speak for the maintainers, I think the point is a minimalist bare bones install that is able to build itself, and I don't think bc is needed for that (I had no trouble building LFS 7.3 in LFS 7.3 without it) It is required by OpenSSL (for the tests I believe) so odds are it won't take very long for someone adding software to LFS to find it in blfs. -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/lfs-dev FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/faq/ Unsubscribe: See the above information page
