Hey guys, 13 years ago LFS 1.0 was released (Dec 16, 1999). Still continuing on today.
Reading an old article from 3 years ago (http://news.cnet.com/8301-13505_3-10413589-16.html) sparked this email. The first sentence in that article reads "Quick, what were you doing on December 9, 1999? If you actually remember, then there's a good chance that you're an old-school Linux type." Well, as a matter of fact, on that evening I was laying the finishing touches to LFS 1.0 and fixing the last few glitches in compiling GCC-2.7.2.3 and Glibc-2.0.7. Does anybody remember those early days? "Up hill. Both ways" comes to mind from that early era. Tons of fun, though!
Well, here's to another 13 years of LFS. Ciao, Gerard
