I'm not aware of any holiday time here in North America.

Yes, but there are a lot of issues I saw in the Debian rules that we 
don't address.  I don't know enough details.  Debian does not seem to 
copy the .tab files (may not be needed), does some things for Java 
(definitely not needed for LFS) and does some different things for 
embedded systems, templates, and i18n.  They also do some things with a 
program called fdupes which I haven't seen before.
