At the back end of last year, I wanted to put poppler-0.18.2 into the book - until I discovered that it had dropped support for qt3 and therefore would not be usable for trinity's kdegraphics. Bruce suggested we could have two versions, so I've now prepared a version of the book at: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/~ken/blfs-book-two-popplers/
What I've changed: 1. Copy the old 0.14.4 version to poppler-014.xml and change the entities and index terms within it to poppler-014. I don't recall if the change to drop qt3 support happened for 0.16 or 0.18 - the file and the variables/indexing could be changed to -016 if anyone takes an interest and finds that 0.16 *did* still support qt3, or indeed it could be renamed to something else. For now, poppler-014 does the job. I also removed the 'without Qt' from the measurements, it wasn't obvious if qt3 or qt4, or both, were not used (I suspect we might only have had qt3 that long ago). 2. In 0.14 point everyone to regular poppler unless they are using kdegraphics, make Qt3 *required*, and replace the additional download by a link(after the install) to the regular poppler page. 3. Change kdegraphics to link to the 0.14 version. 4. In poppler, add --disable-static to the command line instead of listing it as an option, spell out which programs are installed, and index them. And tag for 7.1. The longindex now shows the 'common' programs from poppler ahead of the versions from xpdf. If anyone is motivated to index the programs for 0.14.4 (they aren't identical to 0.18.2 nor to xpdf any more - e.g. pdftoabw used to be present in 0.14 and 0.16), those would appear ahead of the poppler-0.18 versions. Please shout if you disagree with this, otherwise I'll put it in so that it's a lot more straightforward for someone to do today's 0.18.4 ticket. ĸen -- das eine Mal als Tragödie, das andere Mal als Farce -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-dev FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
