I hope to be able to automate some testing of the book using jhalfs, and if the instructions reflect required and recommended dependencies, jhalfs should do a good job. But jhalfs cannot run ./configure --help and decide what to do. Now my preceding message had two parts (sorry for that): one telling that openssl might be recommended for web access programs like wget or lynx, which is just a personal thought, the other telling that wget instructions are broken if they should reflect 'required+recommended' dependencies (no required/recommended dependency implies that the switch should be --without-ssl). One of you might want to fix it. I could even make a patch, but I am not sure my English is good enough to edit the book.
