That's probably because of the postgrey service that was implemented to avoid spam. I deal with the spam on the lists every day. It's rare that it gets through because of the registration requirement. Psostgrey tells the sending mail server to try again later. Sometimes there are multiple servers and if the retry is a different server, the process starts over. If you tell me a specific mail server that your ISP is using, I'll see what I can do about adding the appropriate set of mail services to the white list.
