Yes. I found that info on the Grub2 wiki and it allowed me to tailor a 
solution that boots into Ubuntu 9.10.

Anyway, after some research it appears that the Grub2 devs are concerned 
that PBR installs can trash some filesystems, eg: XFS. But they do allow 
the use of a `--force' override for those that know what they're doing. 
All I know is that the Ubuntu installer supports the configuration I'm 
trying to use and it doesn't work. I'll take it up with Grub2 upstream 
once I've confirmed the problem exists outside Ubuntu.
