Why can't you just figure out what the real problem is? ie: debug it. It
would save me having to do it :-)

True. If skipping the bootstrap on pass1 allows it to build when before it
didn't, it certainly adds weight to the proposal. But maybe there is a
simple workaround? Like I said, we need to understand the root cause so we
can make educated decisions. C'mon dude, show us what you're made of!
