For the past three years I have supported the UIRC irc server (http://www.shadow-realm.org/) and IRC services (http://www.ircservices.za.net/). I only have about 200 users so it does not get much use. The services part allows additional things like registering nicknames, channels, etc. Once a user is registered, they can be setup to have various levels of authority in the rooms. Basically, I set it up and it runs. Every once in a while I actually consider upgrading but that is as far as I get.
