But in reality, how often are issues with BLFS bootscripts found after a release? (or, in between the time LFS is released and BLFS is released?) I doubt there are many issues discovered. If there are, it is the same as errata discovered in LFS after a published version. These sorts of issues can be put in LFS and/or BLFS errata online, in fact, BLFS could just point to a patch to the released version to bring it up to speed. And published books (at least now) always point to the errata and say check there.
I don't think the issue you describe is as dire as you're making it out to be.
