Well, if you or the OP can provide definitive examples of where the
book is inconsistent then I will gladly reword it. As it is, the
introduction sections of each chapter are the only places where I am
aware we inform you of what user you should be, and it is assumed that
one reads that introductory material.

The LFS book is fine in terms of wording, there is a slight room for
improvment in the cross book due to the chroot/boot options and the lead
into that. along with the chapter 4 setup process Its nothing major but
if not read clearly first time around it could lead to confusion and its
a little inconsistant, in some chapters we say "check you've got $LFS
set" but in others we don't, so it can lead to confusion (just as an
example) so the cross-book will be cleared up on this, but I don't see
this minor problem in the LFS book due to its structure being less
complex and optional.
