What I meant is that it's from the udev-update branch, and misses various things that have happened since then. The things that come to mind (how devices are created for chroot, udev rules) are not likely to impact this, but there might be other things which do. At the moment my suggested solution is not verified in the context of building the system, and somebody else might have a better suggestion. If my analysis is right, the problem will have existed since the patch went in, which I guess was January, so even a week or two more won't do much harm.
