Actually, things are in a great state of flux. Over in LFS, a major change is about to happen with hotplug/udev/kernel which will port over to HLFS while at the same time work in glibc-2.4 and gcc-4.1 is happening. The gcc update is pretty big as it will change the way SSP is handled.
