The book is apparently behind, but the archives are searchable.

I have 20051220 (The book) if you want that. I'd sooner see the
error on your box. Most Mail has a  life expectance of 2 minutes or so 
here. The real box error please, not the vmware box.

Going backwards at this stage is bad news, because fundamental
things like the arc4random patch have been fixed since then. I
would suggest taking the gcc version back if you built with 4.1.

If you have any other system, I would also try booting HLFS on a
different kernel, and vice-versa.
