Please BZ this. Boot logging as part of the base was really not very
useful, and the current incarnation is much more than what we could call
a "base" set of bootscripts. ;)
BTW, why was bootlogging moved into enhanced and combined with
interactive mode?
Message wrapping, interactive boot, and boot logging were all user
requests intended as a POC for the main bootscripts at one time, then
the bootscripts got terribly complicated. Line wrapping worked in most
cases, but it was almost impossible to read the script. The shift to
simplicity set back in and line wrapping was removed along with the boot
logging feature.
The tmpfs mounted in rc made the interactive boot much easier so it made
sense to move them together as patching in one without the other was
difficult..or rather would require 3 patches (one for tmpfs always
required, one for boot logging, and one for interactive boot). The
wrapping code was just left in place as the maintenance seemed to be
very little.
