I made the necessary changes to the bootscripts in r7433. I'll wait until a snapshot tarball is available before making the necessary changes to the book itself (the /lib/udev/bug binary and related rules file).

Two remaining questions. 1) Why do we need to create /dev/.udev/queue ourselves (see line 126 of the bootscripts). I would have thought that the udev daemon would have created it itself. 2) Could you point me to the upstream mailing list message where they deny there's a problem with leaked uevents and/or their suggested shell-script snippet. We've got pretty hard evidence there *is* a problem, so upstream need to be hit with a cluebat if necessary.
