I don't know if anyone else has run into this (or noticed it), but there is a problem building older versions of GCC (at least the 3.3.6 version - I didn't check any other versions) in BLFS caused by the use of an obsolete syntax for 'tail' in the makefile.
I also do not know what the exact consequence of the problem are and only noticed the problem because I was actually watching the output of 'make' scroll by. Details on the problem are explained in this email to the coreutils bug list from last November: http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-coreutils/2005-11/msg00121.html -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-dev FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
