Perl is needed to run at least the Glibc testsuite, and probably other things too. The autotools are not required by any packages in LFS and nor should they be (sane packages should include their own copies of the libtool scripts and autogenerated Makefiles and configure scripts). The only time the autotools should be needed is if we patch the autotool input files (Makefile.am, etc.) which we don't, currently.
