Hi Torsten, I think you're overlooking a couple of things - editors upgrade packages and do any testing them with the current book. Nobody, AFAIK, is testing package updates against the last stable book, other than to fix identified problems and vulnerabilities. Even then, changes might still introduce unexpected results. - the svn book is by definition unstable. Sometimes, it can take days, or weeks, for the problem to show up (e.g. past issues with bison and strip) and the fix might be to revert the version.
