I can see the text if you decide on #3. "Some of the files installed by the package have incorrect ownership....".
"Correct the ownership of the libltdl data files:" should be enough, I'd suggest. And yes, I too prefer changing ownership on the installed files if for no other reason than I think it'd flow better in the book.
