I am aware that the user and group "issue" was done to death a while back resulting in the chosen set now in the book, however, although realising that "the numbers dont matter so much" because you'ld normally look them up starting from a name anyway, I did start wondering, when reaching section 6.2 of a recent SVN build, whether or not it might be worth your while to mention why the "4" is 4, in the line:
mount -f -t devpts -o gid=4,mode=620 devpts $LFS/dev/pts seeing as how it is first introduced here, before the reader is introduced to the "tty" group name which has the numerical id of 4 in the LFS scheme of things.
