Ouch. Absolutely right. That was the missing piece, thanks. After that it worked much better. (Though, I had to replace <...> with "..." for the #include in glibc-2.3.5/sysdeps/generic/wcstoul_l.c. Don't know why, but googling on error messages led me to it.)
