This seems like an error to me (an admitted neophyte).
Thought you might want to take a look.
On a much more minor note, the recommended gcc package is listed as
GCC (3.4.3) - 17,714 KB:
but the only 3.4.3 tarball I could find describes itself as 26.2M in size.
