Initial suggested text: A static version of insmod My concern is that it isn't very descriptive. The"Notes on static linking" section (which would explain it) was commented out during the fix for bug 1061. Those notes included 4 paragraphs. Only the last paragraph dealt specifically with the deprecated method of building pass1 of binutils and gcc statically so the other 3 paragraphs *could* be readded but would still seem a bit out of place.
