This is a lot of hurdle jumping though for the few people who don't have a linux system running on their computers already or who can't boot a CD with a linux system on it. That is why I think the more "exotic" setups should be handled in hints and *not* in the book. Too many layers of abstraction will turn people off. What's the purpose of supporting more methods if it turns off the core audience of the book?
