You really shouldn't be trying to build cross-lfs from what it is currently in the x86_64 book. Did you see the note at the beginning that the book is broken? We haven't even *started* editing that one yet. (I think it was mostly just pages from other books dumped into place as a place-holder for that arch.) So you really can't trust that any of those commands are correct. For one thing - the book is intended to be multilib, so for all gcc builds, there shouldn't be a --enable-multilib=no flag. If you really want a guide, you should look at the sparc64 book (which is also broken, but less so) and just discard the sparc specific flags.

Another thing is that the linux-libc-headers will need to be majorly adjusted for the multi-lib...
Sorry, for confusion, but I mean book titled i386/x64_64 not standalone x86_64 (which I notice is *broken* :)) I currently have no plans to do multi-lib, and understand that i386/x86_64 book in not intended for multi-lib. Moreover, I know what to do with linux-libc-headers for it (hey, thanks to cross-lfs scripts :)). I *do* build single-lib 64-bit system. That's what I mean currently broken.

Thanks for point to sparc64 book, I'll look at it when I'll be ready to build multi-lib.

Anyway. We'll let you know here when we start focusing on the x86_64 book to get the instructions right - shouldn't be much longer. Of course, you're still welcome to try to build via the scripts - I just don't want you to trust the current book as anywhere near accurate. :)
Scripts are good, but they are evil :), as I want *understand* what I do first, and later automate it. It's not so easily with them, as they contain a lot of stuff for other archs.
