the only problem i can see there is you havent loaded your kernel, but i 
suppose since kexec has been released (change kernel without rebooting, wow 
just what ive been waiting for! full 32 emulation mode here i come!) I 
suppose you could. But thatll make lfs too complicated for the new user.

Install kexec and what your thinking will make more sense..
