I don't believe it is, because my 6.1 system (using the lfs-bootscripts)
doesn't do it.

I don't think it will -- I have it off here too.  But it'd be worth a
shot.

Well, in theory no, but if vesafb (or whatever) uses a different line
discipline, it might.
