You can get the hotplug handler via

root:/proc/sys/kernel# cat /proc/sys/kernel/hotplug 
/sbin/hotplug

for synthesizing hotplug events.


The changes seem sane enough [And not having a program the kernel is
known to automatically call would be a great change]
