Exactly, so if we go and remove all those users and groups that we don't think are required/desired on a base LFS system then it'll cause pain for those then installing packages from BLFS that require those users/groups to be present. Admittedly, the pain is minimal (a 'useradd' or 'groupadd' should be all that's needed) and any LFSer worth their salt should be able to figure out what's going on, but I thought this was the agreed approach.
Except that it's not as simple as just a useradd or groupadd. There's also configuring udev so that the device nodes are set up properly to think about.
I thought the whole idea behind removing the groups was to get educational text into the LFS book on how to set the system up more to your liking...when are we going to start discussing what's going to be in that text - that seems to me to be the next thing we need to do.
