Join Us from July 7-9 for the 2025 Introduction to Complex Turning Class

We are pleased to announce our Introduction to Complex Turning class, now being
offered at our gorgeous, new facility in Saltsburg, PA. We've moved into the
final phases of construction and are putting the machinery in place. To say
we're excited to be offering new programming after a one-year hiatus would be
an understatement.

This course will provide an in-depth overview of various machines, including
the rose engine, ornamental turning lathe, and a variety of chucks and cutting
frames. Participants will engage in practical projects, such as creating wine
bottle stoppers or tool handles, to gain comprehensive experience.

The accompanying video illustrates the entire process, from the initial turning
on the Hardinge lathe, to finishing on the MADE Rose Engine. Students will
learn the fundamentals of setting up an ornamental turning lathe and rose
engine, along with the basic functions of typical cutting frames and
touch/rosette relationships on the rose engine. The curriculum will cover the
setup and operation of the spiral apparatus, curvilinear apparatus,
reciprocator, and rose engine, focusing on their applications to ornamental
turning in wood.

Participants will have the opportunity to create small objects, such as bottle
stoppers and handles, showcasing a broad range of applications. This hands-on
course requires students to personally set up and operate both antique and
modern machines, with an emphasis on machinery setup and operation rather than
complex pattern creation. The class is designed for beginners.

The sessions will commence on Thursday and Friday mornings at 9 am and conclude
at 6 pm or later. Although the main sessions span two days, the workshop will
remain open to students on Saturday morning to complete unfinished work or
undertake additional projects.

The $750 will include materials and lunch on Thursday and Friday.

Cost: $750, including materials.

Sign-Up: Eventbrite Tickets
