will keep it short and sweet. We gained a very comfortable 2 0 win against a very poor side indeed and a shocking ref (again) We started brightly and with a sense of urgency and purpose that seemed to have deserted us in recent games other than a mad 15 mins at the end of games trying to salvage something. This was due in the main to White running with pace and purpose at them from the first minute and Snoddy ,refreshed after his rest on Saturday and his goal, having one of his good games, and when he is good at this level he is very very good. Like Brighton and Walsall Oldham came to defend and to quote Miller in his post Brighton match interview they parked the bus in front of the goal - in Oldhams case they parked Sean gregan who is the size of a bus in front of goal. Gregan was lucky to stay on the pitch getting away with a late foul on Beckford in the box early doors - I did not see it but by the smirk on his face and the moaning by Beckford he did something. He later committed when one the biggest body checks I have seen for which he was rightly booked. Oldham are one of the few teams who also like to get us playing the wrong way round (kicking to Revie Stand first half) but this time it did them no good. At 0 0 at half time there were a few nerves about but the general feeling was that tonight was going to be OK and so it proved in a decisive 10 minute spell. First a good ball from White found Beckford on the wing and he beat his man on the edge of the box and fired in a decent low shot that the keeper spilled right to the feet of Becchio who prodded it home from 5yds out. Then a lovely cross from Snoddy who had made room for himself very well found Becchio rising at the far post and heading home again from 5yds maximum. 2 0 and we were coasting. We then went to sleep for a bit and first Taylor and then Jason Price "is f***ing sh*t" found themselves with the ball at their feet yards away from goal and both messed it up with Casper saving the first and the second missing altogether. We then continued to pass and move and come close on a few more occasions. Saturday will show if we are indeed back on track or if this was just taking advantage of a really poor team but whatever ,it is 3 very welcome and well deserved points from a game we palyed well in and dominated from start to finish. Dave PS re Oldies - I am 51 and first game was in 1967 at Old Trafford - 0 0 draw when Sprake and Jimmy Greenhoff are the players I remember (that and getting the mickey taken out of me by some scum fans cos I had a Leeds kit on !!) First game at ER was Ipswich in 1974 when we won 3 2 in our last home game of the league winning season Dave _______________________________________________ the Leeds List is an unmoderated mailing list and the list administrators accept no liability for the personal views and opinions of contributors.
